Lifescan Scotland, formerly Inverness Medical and now owned by Johnson and Johnson, is the largest private sector manufacturer in the Highlands with more than 1300 employees. Other significant sectors include timber processing which is facing an increasingly competitive environment.Social profile
Our most important asset is people. The area as a whole has enjoyed a phenomenal rate of population change over the last 30 years, dominated by the City of Inverness and nearby Culloden which together house more than 80% of the population.Communications
The area has high quality road, rail, air and sea links. Future growth, however, will depend on helping to create better transport and communication links.Issues
