Who can we help?

The Skillseekers programme aims to provide National Standard training to young people aged 16/17, we can help employers and young people seeking training in employment or through a training provider. Entrants aged 18 or over will be considered in certain circumstances.

What assistance is available?

A skillseeker can receive training in employment or with a training organisation towards the achievement of a recognised VQ gaining both job experience and a worthwhile qualification. The employer will help define the content of the training plan and ensure that training targets are met. If you wish to provide work experience, you will liase with a training organisation, which will offer you one or more skillseekers. You will be expected to fulfil the normal obligation of an employers and pay the skillseekers wages. Prior to leaving full time education, the young person will develop an action plan with the local careers officer. At the same time, an information pack and a skillseeker card will be issued. Payment is made to the employer or training organisation from the skillseekers account.
