Croft Entrant Scheme

Who we can help?

The scheme provides financial support, advice and guidance to young people, aged between 18 and 40, who are eager to enter crofting, whilst encouraging ageing crofters to release their land for more active use.  The new entrant must identify a suitable croft and submit a development plan. Transfer of tenancy may be by either family or non-family assignation. The out going crofter may receive an incentive payment based on the potential crop and stock capacity of the croft.

What assistance you can get?

The maximum level of financial assistance which may be available to new entrants is £3,000 and to the out-goer - £1,000. In all cases, an application for financial assistance must be submitted by both parties prior to the date of assignation.
