Appointability through openness

The HIE Network’s policy of Appointability Through Openness is designed to encourage wider community interest, nominations and self-nominations for the positions of Local Enterprise Company (LEC) directors – through clearer public accessibility to the leadership of LECs. The policy includes local advertising and consultation to identify a wide filed of candidates for LEC board membership; production of job descriptions and people specifications for the LEC board posts; and the introduction of nomination panels, containing independent local representation from outside the LEC, to sift candidate directors against objective criteria of skills, experience and merit.
