Research among in-migrants to three parts of the Highlands and Islands (Arran, Wester Ross and Skye and Raasay) was undertaken in 2003. The purpose of the work was to examine the characteristics and motivations of in-migrant households in considering their move to the area and to examine the nature, extent and sustainability of the economic activities in which they are involved.
