  • 31 January 2012: Scottish Government launch action plan on Scotland's future digital infrastructure 
    This action plan outlines our commitment to a world-class, future proofed infrastructure that will deliver digital connectivity across the whole of Scotland by 2020. The purpose of this plan is to deliver a step change in people's ability to access the internet, enabling people to connect from their homes, businesses and while on the move.

  • 12 January 2012: Highlands and Islands superfast broadband rollout on course to begin in 2013
    A planned rollout of superfast broadband across the whole of the Highlands and Islands is progressing according to plan. The project aims to deliver access to superfast broadband across all areas of the Highlands and Islands over the coming years, with work starting in 2013.

  • 20 October 2010: Government announces successful bid for superfast broadband for Highlands and Islands
    Highlands and Islands Enterprise today [Wednesday 20 October 2010] welcomed the news that its bid for UK Government funding to deliver superfast broadband in some of Scotland's most rural areas had met with success.

  • Next Generation Broadband for the Highlands and Islands of Scotland tender
    HIE, in partnership with the UK Government, Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) and the Scottish Government, is looking to appoint a suitably experienced partner to co-invest in the provision of Next Generation Broadband (NGB) services throughout the region. This project is part of a wider programme which has the aim of maximising the benefits of improved digital connectivity. The desired outcomes are economic growth, stronger communities and improved delivery of public services.

    The tender is following a Competitive Dialogue OJEU process [OJEU Ref: 183505-2011 (2011/S 111-183505)].
