Moray - key sectors

Food and drink production makes up nearly a fifth (19 per cent) of Moray's Gross Value Added (GVA). This compares with 3 per cent in Scotland and 2 per cent in the UK.

Tourism, forest products, textiles and specialised metalworking are other clusters in which Moray has larger than average shares of global markets.

The region is famed for its whisky and food. Moray is home to the Malt Whisky Trail as well as international brand names such as Glenfiddich, Macallan, Strathisla and Glenlivet. Distilleries such as Benromach, Aberlour and Glenfarclas stand close to such well known names as Baxters Food Group and Walkers Shortbread.

A number of ambitious businesses perform innovative and groundbreaking work in the area, including the Roof Truss Company, Forsyths Engineering and Vertex.
