The HIE Network’s environmental renewal programme concentrates on bringing derelict, neglected, under-used or unsightly land or buildings into economic, leisure or social use, preferably with some form of environmental gain.

Our environmental renewal programme is wide ranging. In the past, it has included land and building improvements at Kinlochleven in Lochaber, improvements to a pier at Point of Ness in Lewis, the creation of a play area on Tiree and footpath improvements throughout the Highlands and Islands.

Given the diverse nature of environmental renewal projects, it is difficult to set criteria that would apply to every circumstance. The property manager at your Local Enterprise Company can provide specific advice on proposed projects.
