Historic Rural Scotland Price Surveys

These historic reports examine prices of goods and services throughout the Highlands and Islands and other locations in rural Scotland.

In 2001 the methodology of the survey changed.  As a result, in 2001 a combined prices and expenditure survey was undertaken for the whole of Scotland. Since then, the Rural Scotland Price Survey was undertaken in early 2002.  In 2003, the methodology was again changed slightly to incorporate private house prices as a proxy for the depreciation cost of owning a private home.  As a result it is not possible to do time series comparison of the surveys.
