Fast internet connections are changing the tourism experience for both visitors and providers.
During 2015, HIE worked with 58 businesses across the Highlands and Islands to maximise the benefits of broadband. The pilot project helped them to build capacity and learn how digital technologies can be used as a tool to meet customer expectations in the digital age.
A national programme - Digital Tourism Scotland - has now been set up nationwide building on this early pilot.
Seven organisations have joined forces to deliver it: Business Gateway, Scottish Government, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Scottish Enterprise, Scottish Tourism Alliance, Skills Development Scotland, and VisitScotland. Further details on the national programme are available here

A business survey will ensure that activities delivered by the Digital Tourism Scotland programme reflect business requirements. Topics may include web development, using social media, analytics, web content, cyber security amongst other things.
