Ok, so most people now know that a Web Page isn’t just something that a duck walks on but do you know how to use your home computer to build your own business or to work from home?
Get IT Together - a partnership between; BT, through their Better Future programme; Highlands and Islands Enterprise; Highlife Highland, Nominet Trust and Citizens Online are now delivering a basic IT programme to local residents.
After the fire at the Falls of Shin Visitor Centre in Lairg, the Get IT Together team taught staff from the Centre IT skills that helped them to find new jobs. One learner went on to establish her own business after receiving some help in building her own website. In Stromness, they also ran an iPad class so that people could find out about the many benefits of being online.
So what’s in it for you? Well there are many ways in which being online can help you. If you are interested in working from home they can help to boost your IT skills and make that possible. You may just need a bit more confidence or to refresh the skills you already have. Whether it’s learning the basics or building on the skills you already have, these sessions can help you gain the experience and knowledge you need to enable you to work from home.
Currently courses are running across the Highlands and Islands areas. Classes are really informal and can be tailored to your needs. To find a course near you, please get in touch with the local project coordinator:
