Graduate placement - recruitment guidelinesDate: 14 October 2008 ![]()
Here are some summary guidelines relating to the GO programme - from deciding you would like to employ a graduate, to their appointment. Let's meet to discuss your requirementsAfter our initial contact, a GO programme co-ordinator will arrange to meet with you to discuss in greater detail your requirements. Contact us at go@inspireandimpact.com We will gather detailed information about the kind of graduate you are looking for, what personal skills and qualities they would ideally possess, and a description of the job. At or prior to this meeting we will provide you with an employer questionnaire and funding application which will be used to:
Graduate job / placement advertisementIf you decide to proceed after meeting with a GO programme co-ordinator, you will then need to supply us with the completed employer questionnaire and funding application. We will use this information to create an online job advertisement - which is how we source most of our graduates. You must include in the form information about your proposed timescale, dates when you would like to close the advertisement, dates when you plan to carry out interviews (within two weeks of the job closing date if possible) - and anticipated start date for the job. We will remain in close contact with you throughout this process. Where we advertiseAll of our jobs are advertised through an organisation called Graduates for Growth (G4G) which has a website with more than 5,000 graduates registered. G4G also alerts university and college careers offices of new jobs through regular email contact, and has a presence at recruitment fairs. Selection / interviewAt the closing date for application, G4G will supply us with the CVs and covering letters of all job applicants. It is then up to you to decide which applicants you are interested in pursuing, and to arrange interviews directly with them. It is your responsibility to manage this interview process, including informing candidates of success / failure. You should keep us informed, so that we can either re-advertise the post (if for some reason none of the candidates were suitable) or confirm start dates and funding. FundingYou should expect to receive written confirmation of funding from HIE Inverness and East Highland or HIE Moray prior to the start date of the graduate. Unless you hear from us otherwise, you should assume that funding is granted and that written confirmation is in progress. Contact your GO programme co-ordinator if you have any concerns in the interim. AppointmentOnce you have agreed a start date with the graduate, all you need to do is inform your GO programme co-ordinator of their name and start date, and we will arrange to meet with you and them within the first three to six weeks of appointment.
