Graduate placement - eligibility

HIE Inverness and East Highland and HIE Moray graduate placement programme - eligibility guidelines
The graduate and undergraduate placement programme exists to encourage growth of businesses within the region, employing skills and talent to help with specific business needs. It also aims to encourage graduates / undergraduates to stay in, or move to the area and pursue regional employment opportunities.
What businesses are eligible?
Funding of up to £5,000 a year (for one year) is available to support the employment of a graduate / undergraduate. This is pro-rated down for shorter placements, or part-time posts.
- Any privately-funded business, (the focus is on small – medium enterprises, but after January 2007 funding will also be open to larger businesses);
- For a post which is new to the business or organisation (i.e. introducing skills, or a unique project);
- The business / organisation must put a case forward illustrating the benefit to the business of a graduate placement;
- For full-time placements, from 2 – 12 months in length;
- For part-time placements;
- The minimum wage we expect the graduate to receive is £16,000 p.a. (or pro rated to the length of the placement). This does not apply to summer placement positions or undergraduate placements.
What graduates are eligible?

- HND graduates are also eligible (but not HNC);
- Undergraduate summer placements;
- Undergraduate one-year sandwich year placements;
- Any graduate, from anywhere in the world, as long as they have a permit to work in this country.
