Freedom of information - LEC publication schemes

Like Highlands and Islands Enterprise, all HIE network local enterprise companies are required to comply with the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 - which provides a general right of access to information held by Scottish public authorities from 1 January 2005.

The Act also places other obligations on individual LECs, including the production of a publication scheme that lists the classes of information that are either published or will be published.

Adoption of the Local Enterprise Company (LEC) model scheme has been approved by the Office of the Scottish Information Commissioner.

Information must be made available by LECs in accordance with the adopted publication scheme by 30 November 2004. In adopting and completing this scheme, HIE network LECs have taken into account public interest in the information they hold and have continued to be mindful of the value of openness and transparency.

Downloadable copies of LEC publication schemes are available here.
