HIE aims to be proactive in ensuring that the services and assistance it provides are accessible to all people who live, work and study in the Highlands and Islands.

HIE also recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce and believe that the promotion of equality and diversity is a key component of good management, as well as being legally required, socially desirable and morally right.

HIE are committed to treating all existing and prospective employees fairly - regardless of gender, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, religion or belief - or any other factor not relevant to employment.

The public sector equality duties all have the same spirit and intention behind them, requiring public authorities to take action to tackle discrimination, to prevent harassment, and to ensure that their work promotes equality - not just in employment - but also in policy development, delivery and in service provision.

HIE’s single equality scheme, including our three year action plan, is available for download here. Also published is a statement on HIE’s pay policy and associated documents as well as employee monitoring data which we will build on over time to help chart progress in implementing HIE’s equality scheme action plan.

If you have any queries about equality and diversity matters relating to HIE please contact Liz Scott, Equalities Manager on 01463 244206.
