The Crown Estate in Scotland report

The primary purpose of this report is to promote and inform debate about the recommendation that:  

• the Secretary of State for Scotland and Scottish Ministers should, given the changed circumstances of devolution, implement an appropriately constituted review to ensure that the property, rights and interests which make up the Crown Estate in Scotland contribute more fully to the delivery of Scottish Executive policies and the wellbeing of the people of Scotland.

Publication of 'The Crown Estate in Scotland – New Opportunities for Public Benefits'

This report, available to download here in Adobe pdf format, was prepared by the Crown Estate Review Working Group.

Partners of the group are the six local councils in the Highlands and Islands, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, and Cosla.

Copies of the report have already been sent to the First Minister, Jack McConnell, and the Secretary of State for Scotland, Douglas Alexander with a request for a meeting to take the matter forward.

The report provides an account of these property rights and ways in which they could produce greater public benefits in Scotland. The benefits include both immediate opportunities within existing arrangements as well as further opportunities under more devolved arrangements.
