Research Challenge Fund

Introduction

The Research Challenge Fund competition – established by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) with European Union backing – has now selected the five winning proposals. Thirty-eight organisations initially submitted an entry, pursuing a share of the £270,000 grant funding that will be apportioned amongst the competition winners.

The competition was specifically set up to benefit small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and research organisations within the Highlands and Islands. Its aim is to help them convert early-stage research ideas into well-formed product and process concepts.

The five winners - from Orkney, Lewis and Argyll - and a description of their projects can be accessed through this link.
