Under the European State Aid rules, public sector intervention in broadband infrastructure investments is limited to those areas where there is no current or planned (within the next 3 years) commercial deployment, to avoid distorting what might otherwise be/become a competitive market.

Community project areas being considered for investment through CBS will be published on this webpage for 1 month prior to any infrastructure investment and any operators already delivering or planning to deliver broadband services that exceed what has been detailed for each project should make their plans known.

Evidence in the form of a business plan and detailed calendar development plan will be required before any changes in the scope of the project are considered.
