Just left school? What now?

A job with guaranteed training is a good place to start.

You have to find the job – if you need help and advice to do that, contact Careers Scotland.

If you’ve got the chance of a job, make sure your employer knows about Skillseekers because there is funding available from HIE Caithness and Sutherland to help with the cost of your training and qualification.

Just about any job has a vocational qualification relating to the work – Skillseekers mainly do a level 2 vocational qualification – that would be the equivalent to Credit Standard Grade or Intermediate 2 at school.

Vocational qualifications are not like school though

You do the work, learning on the job, and as you become more confident and competent at doing your job, your skills are assessed. When you’ve covered all the different parts related to your work and been assessed as competent at all of them, you are awarded your Level 2 vocational qualification.

HIE Caithness and Sutherland pays a modest bonus to you as well (currently £100), when you achieve, by way of congratulations!

Skillseekers is for people just like you

You want opportunities. You want to learn new skills. You want to earn while you learn. You want to start the career of your choice. You want to achieve a nationally recognised qualification. You want to experience the world of work, enjoy its challenges and achieve something for yourself. You want all of this NOW.

You want Skillseekers!
