Three-day workshop
Aims:
This programme aims to provide a forum for Project Managers and Senior Managers to gain exposure to Best Practices in Project Management in its broadest sense.
Using the professional Project Management standard of the ‘Body of Knowledge’ as the basis for the programme topics, the topics that will be addressed by using current thinking, best practices and case histories.
The main objectives are that, at the end of the programme delegates will be able to introduce and implement the best practice practical skills required by project management practitioners to successfully define, appraise, execute and control their projects.
Content:
- Project Initiation: Identifying the true nature. Assessing feasibility. Making decisions. Project life-cycles.
- Managing the Contract: Organisation of projects. Risk Analysis. Estimating. Tendering and contracting - why contracts go wrong.
- Planning: Planning to satisfy the client. Assigning tasks to people. Resource management and scheduling. Building the project plan. Using project management software.
- Building and leading the project team: People and projects. Team organisation. Stakeholder management. Team motivation.
- Managing and controlling progress and costs: Project monitoring and control. Cost management. Maintaining the schedule.
- Managing quality and change: Maintaining quality. Change: cause and effects. Configuration management. Closing the project-review processes and procedures.
