Association opportunities - become involved and change lives

In addition to having to find partners to work with us on the design and development of the inclusive technologies, we have also had to raise £36,000. We are very grateful for the generous support that has been extended so far.

However, we are still short of our final target, and are keen to raise it—not only because it will make the expedition itself viable but also because we will then be well on our way to facilitating winter wilderness access to other disabled adventurers.

Charitable donations of any size

Contributions of any size can be made directly to our expedition fund 'By Hands and Feet across Greenland'.

We are also hoping to  raise money for the charity Interventure, registered charity number SCO31889).

In this way, you will be contributing significantly to the growing body of knowledge that facilitates outdoor access for disabled people. Most of the fundraising has been carried out to date by Anna and Karen. They have now tasked each team member to raise the equivalent of the money needed to cover (at least) one of their night camps. For this, they will need to get e.g. 12 friends, family members or local businesses to donate £50 each. Please support them in this effort.

Join our 'Nansen 2006' club

Our ‘Nansen 2006’ club is for companies and individuals who believe, as Nansen did, in the value of breaking down the physical and mental barriers that limit human potential. It is effectively an ‘inclusivity’ club for partners who contribute in a major way to the success of this project. Membership options will bring the following benefits:

Title sponsorship

We are seeking one major sponsor with whom we can maximise the exposure potential of this expedition platform. NB: Title sponsorship of this project is great financial value, if balanced against comparable motivational speaking and management training rates! As the key member of our ‘Nansen Club’, you will have your choice of membership benefits.

We can also offer additional, professionally run, development training courses for managers or staff, targeted to specific company objectives, CSR, quality and diversity etc values as well as tailor-made in-house presentations and inspirational, motivational talks.

Silver Level association

If you believe in this venture but cannot become title sponsor, please consider taking us half way. In every venture, setting out is probably the hardest step. The next huge physical and psychological goal post is always the half way point. In Greenland, this true watershed will also be our highest elevation point so it will literally be downhill from there, with lighter pulks and the winds hopefully behind us.

Bronze Level association

£6,000 (or equivalent)

We have chosen £6,000 as our figure for Bronze Level association since it would effectively propel us (by hand or foot) through a very significant proportion of our journey. This sum would cover any one of the major costs associated with the expedition. For instance, the cost of the charter and excess baggage, the cost of the pulks, boots, skis and bindings, or the cost of freight and flights.

Night camp ownership

£600

When we started to get enquiries as to whether it might be possible for people to claim ownership of one of our overnight camps, we set the figure at a minimum of £600 since that is roughly the cost of the whole expedition divided into the number of nights we expect to spend to the ice. Night camp owners receive individually negotiated benefits, including, for instance, exclusive rights to images taken at specific camps, a phone call update from that camp, reference in all expedition literature and at all expedition talks etc.
