DATA PROTECTION – PRIVACY STATEMENT:

Any personal data or sensitive personal data provided by you to us will be held and processed in accordance with the data protection principles set out in the Data Protection Act 1998 for the purposes of meeting the legitimate interests of Highlands and Islands Enterprise, the Scottish Ministers and the Scottish Government.

Who are we?

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (or “HIE”) is an economic and community development agency delivering the Scottish Government’s economic strategy across the Highlands and Islands, a region which covers more than half of Scotland.  HIE is the “data controller” of the personal data you have provided for purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998. At HIE we are committed to protecting the privacy of our customers and adhere to HIE’s privacy and cookie policy.

What may we use your information for?

We may use your information for the following purposes:-

Normal course of business - the information you provide will be held and used by HIE in the normal course of business, including internal administrative purposes,
Sharing information  - the information may also be disclosed to government departments and agencies for the reasons outlined below,
Auditing purposes - the information you provide may be disclosed to the European Commission, the Scottish Government, Audit Scotland, HIE’s external auditors, and these bodies’ agents for audit purposes,
Statistical purposes - the information may be used for the purpose of compiling statistical reports, supporting funding claims and evaluating impact of support,
Participation - the information may also be used to determine whether HIE’s programmes and interventions are reaching a representative proportion of the business population and the full range of individuals to whom they are of value, and
Compliance with law - we will release personal information when we are required to do so by law.
Consent - Other than in the above situations you will receive notice from us when your personal information might go to third parties and you will have the opportunity to decide not to share that information.

This information will not be used for marketing purposes unless indicated otherwise below. Users are advised that there is a possibility that they may be contacted at some point in the future for project evaluation in order to determine the value of the impact of the project. If users are contacted as part of this process, any information provided by users will be treated as anonymous and confidential.
