In November 2017, HIE took two businesses from the Highlands and Islands to participate on the "Powering Growth" course at INSEAD in Paris. These participants attended the course on a pilot basis to assess the relevance of the content to the needs of SMEs in the region.

INSEAD Powering Growth is a week-long intensive executive education course teaching skills for businesses aspiring to achieve growth through a strong customer focus. The course is held onsite at INSEAD in Paris and is aimed at entrepreneurs and their senior staff who want to put the customer at the heart of their business.
The course makes participants rethink their whole approach to growth by focusing on the customer, rather than internal issues and competitors. Participants are supported to develop a ‘power offer’ that really does offer customers what they want – even if they do not know it! Through a blend of teaching and interactive group sessions, delegates will gain the knowledge to achieve deep customer engagement and the tools to turn customers into advocates and champions for their products or services.
Participants on Powering Growth have the opportunity to put the ideas taught on the course into practice through the INSEAD-developed DiG (Discovery Innovation and Growth) simulation. The purpose of the DiG is to create the appropriate competencies, attitudes and behaviour to power customer-based growth in a business. Participants learn how to adopt a completely new way to achieve growth and learn the skills to develop and lead the momentum for change within their organisation.
INSEAD'S Blue Ocean Strategy is an intensive four day programme featuring a mix of lectures, discussions, case analysis and workshops where delegates analyse their own business. Delegates are encouraged to attend the course with a specific challenge they wish to address during the programme.
Companies have long engaged in head-to-head competition in seaarch of sustained profitable growth. They have fought for competitive advantage, battled over market share and struggled for differentiation. Yet in today's overcrowded industries, competing head on results in nothing but a red ocean of rivals fighting over a shrinking pool of profit. While many companies compete within such red oceans, there is a different way.
INSEAD's Blue Ocean Strategy offers a new perspective on strategy formulation and execution. The course helps delegates to immerse themselves in Blue Ocean Strategy concepts, tools and frameworks to create blue oceans of uncontested market space. The course helps delegates to apply these concepts and tools to real business situations to break away from the competitiion and achieve strong profitable growth.
Since 1967, INSEAD has led the way for innovative and influential learning experiences for entrepreneurs and business people around the world.
