A report commissioned by HIE and delivered in March 2006, showed that over 60 per cent of businesses surveyed in the Highlands and Central Belt want the A9 road to be fully dualled between Inverness and Perth.

The survey was carried out as part of a broad ranging research programme by HIE to determine the future transport investment priorities for the region - identifying the options that will best support long-term economic development.

The report also probes perceptions of the A96 between Aberdeen and Inverness and concludes that there is cause for concern about the views held on the Highland Capital's road links.
