The HIE board is made up of Willy Roe, HIE chair, Sandy Cumming, HIE chief executive and eight non-executive members. Each board member is a local representative who either lives or works in the Highlands and Islands and brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the organisation. The board has overall responsibility for ensuring that HIE fulfils its statutory duties and the aims and objectives set out by the Scottish Government. For more details take a look at the Scottish Government Economic Strategy published in November 2007. The board specifically has responsibility for approving the three year operating plan, and ensuring that the Scottish Government has thorough arrangements for appraising, monitoring and evaluating these targets. In 2008 the board will meet on six occasions to conduct a formal board meeting. Meetings are held in private, owing to the confidential nature of most or all of the items on the agenda. Meetings will be held on:
Following each meeting the minute is written and submitted for approval at the next board meeting. Once approved this minute is made available to download from related documents (right). Minutes of meetings held during 2007 or earlier, can be accessed using key links (below).
