The HIE board is made up of Willy Roe, HIE chair, Sandy Cumming, HIE chief executive and six non-executive members. Each board member brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the organisation.

The board has overall responsibility for ensuring that HIE fulfils its statutory duties and the aims and objectives set out by the Scottish Government.  For more details take a look at the Scottish Government Economic Strategy published in November 2007. The board specifically has responsibility for approving the three year operating plan, and ensuring that the Scottish Government has thorough arrangements for appraising, monitoring and evaluating these targets.

Meetings are held in private, owing to the confidential nature of most or all of the items on the agenda.   Meeting agendas are available in advance of the meeting (above). Following each meeting the minute is written and submitted for approval at the next board meeting which is often up to two months later.  Once approved this minute is also made available to download. HIE has three Board Committees, the Audit Committee, Remuneration Committee and Health and Safety Committee.  Each Committee is chaired by a Board Member.  Minutes of Committee meetings are available using key links below.
