We are a globally connected region, with comprehensive transport links both to and around the Highlands and Islands. We've nine airports, with the additional option of a number of smaller airports and airstrips.
Air services from Inverness operate to many of the UK's biggest cities including London, Manchester, Birmingham and Belfast. Services which operate to European destinations include Amsterdam, Zurich, Dusseldorf and Bergen.
We've rail services to the north, east, south and west of both the Highlands and Islands and Scotland. The iconic Caledonian Sleeper is an overnight service between London Euston and Inverness/Fort William, and operates six evenings per week.
Major trunk roads connect the Highlands and Islands to the rest of Scotland as well as the UK. A comprehensive bus service network operates across the area.
Ferry services ensure easy access to more rural areas and many of our island communities.
Digitally, a £146m investment in a fibre broadband network has opened up new opportunities and greater flexibility for working and studying across the region. More than 8 out of 10 of our homes and businesses have superfast broadband access.
Having Inverness airport so close-by is a great benefit. With regular flights to London and Amsterdam you can go anywhere in the world. Online check in means you don't have to sit for hours in the airport. My record from car to plane is six minutes.Pawel de Sternberg Stojalowski, Founder and Managing Director, Aseptium
