Community Swimming Pools
The first woodchip boiler, 200kW, was installed at the Mid Argyll Swimming Pool as part of ALIenergy's Woodwarm project which also included a similar 200kW installation at Kyle Swimming Pool and a smaller 80kW system at Duror Community Hall. These systems are a far cry from the simple wood burning stoves of yesteryear, they represent modern, clean, efficient energy systems fed by automated woodchip hoppers. By displacing fossil fuel alternatives these systems aid the environment as well as deliver economic benefits to both the community and to the local economy.
Further woodfuel boilers are planned as part of the Campbeltown Community Facility (swimming pool) and the proposed Mull and Iona Community Pool at Craignure.
