What sources of financial help for training are available to businesses and individuals through HIE Argyll and the Islands?
We can give a grant to:
- Businesses investing in workforce and management training to improve business performance.
- Individuals who are unemployed to help them into the workforce.
- Individuals who wish to improve their career prospects through specific training.
We also fund:
- The provision of national training programmes to improve skills and competitiveness in the workforce, such as Modern Apprenticeships and Skillseekers.
- Training provision to help those who have been out of the workforce for some time or who have special needs.
How long will it take to get a grant?
We aim to process applications for individuals and micro businesses within 2 weeks. For businesses aiming for IiP or EFQM the processing time from receipt of commitment by the business is also 2 weeks.
What sort of advice and information does HIE Argyll and the Islands give on training?
Examples include:
- Help in drawing up a business's training plan.
- Advice on eligibility criteria for funding.
- Advice on individual vocational training plans.
- Liaison with other agencies, e.g. careers guidance service.
What sort of training does HIE Argyll and the Islands provide?
- Business start-up training.
- Tourism training
- A range of business skills development courses.e.g. marketing, financial management and IT skills.
- Workshops and business mentoring e.g. supply and procurement, employment legislation and "Master Classes".
- A range of training linked to vocational qualifications.
What other help does HIE Argyll and the Islands provide for training?
We support the development of local acces to learning opportunities and help to enhance the training and learning infrastructure in Argyll and the Islands. Examples include:
- Investment in the establishment and growth of Argyll College and other training providers.
- Investment in the technical infrastructure across Argyll to boost uptake of on-line learning.
- Development of bespoke learning e.g. customised training programme to 2,000 householders participating in the Digital Communities project.
