About us
As part of Highlands and Islands Enterprise - one of the two government created enterprise companies covering Scotland, HIE Argyll and the Islands are tasked with an economic development role for the area. Highlands and Islands Enterprise consists of 9 Local Enterprise Companies or LECs, HIE Argyll and the Islands is one such LEC. Our area of responsibility extends from the Mull of Kintyre in the south to just beyond Appin in north Argyll where we share a border with our sister organisation Lochaber Enterprise. From the Isle of Tiree in the west to Succoth (by Arrochar) in the east and includes the North Ayrshire islands of Arran and Cumbrae. Within our territory there are 70,000 individuals with skills and potential of their own and more than 4,500 businesses and community groups. Our task is to unlock that potential and help create a strong, diverse and sustainable economy where quality of life is matched by quality of opportunity. |
