Directors and senior management

HIE's leadership team is chaired by Alex Paterson, Chief Executive, and includes four directors. A personal profile of each director, including their individual register of interests, is available below.

The team meet most weeks to discuss and decide on policy matters, strategic issues and key projects. It reviews organisational performance against priorities and budgets, as well as all papers going to HIE Board meetings.

Carroll Buxton

Carroll Buxton

Regional Development Director

Carroll Buxton is HIE's Regional Development Director and has responsibility for managing a diverse directorate, leading on a range of issues including the Inverness Campus, broadband, property, UHI, policy, research and economics, communications and strategy. She also manages HIE's area offices in Moray and Shetland.

Forbes Duthie has responsibility for corporate services across HIE including finance, legal, information systems, procurement and facilities management.

Rachael McCormack

Rachael McCormack

Strengthening Communities Director

Rachael McCormack is responsible for HIE's work to strengthen communities - directing initiatives to help local people acquire and develop community assets, support the third sector, and develop the region's culture and heritage, including Gaelic. She takes a leading role in HIE's work to address challenges in fragile areas, and oversees area teams in Argyll and the Islands, Innse Gall, and Lochaber, Skye and Wester Ross.

Charlotte Wright

Charlotte Wright

Sector and Business Development Director

Charlotte Wright is responsible for four Area Teams: Inner Moray Firth; Caithness and Sutherland; and Orkney. She also has responsibility for the Inverness Campus team and the Operations Support team. and is Senior Responsible Officer for the ongoing development of the account management model in HIE.
