Our priorities

Creating a competitive region - property and infrastructure

The development of business infrastructure is an important tool in delivering economic growth. Provision of modern facilities to attract new businesses to the region and support the expansion of existing firms is essential if we are to build on the progress made in recent years, broaden the economic base and ensure we are
properly equipped to capitalise on opportunities in growth sectors.

We will look to provide serviced sites and premises to support priority sectors in locations where there is no prospect of the private sector doing so, and to ensure the availability of appropriate business infrastructure to assist economic regeneration. In addition we will identify opportunities to work with the private sector to facilitate the development of key property and infrastructure projects sponsored by third parties.

During the period of this plan we will continue to promote further development at key regional infrastructure sites such as Inverness CampusEuropean Marine Science Park, Enterprise Park Forres and Arnish Stornoway, to maximise the benefits of designated Enterprise Areas across the region. We will also seek to identify new opportunities to encourage development in some of our more peripheral and fragile areas in partnership with private sector developers where such opportunities are possible.
