State Aid public consultation issued for a number of CBS projects

07 October 2016

Community Broadband Scotland (CBS) is carrying out a series of State Aid public consultations to assess commercial plans for broadband across certain areas of Scotland.

A number of projects supported by CBS are looking to define their project area and progress with their community broadband aspirations. The project areas included are B4GAL, Ettrick, Durisdeer, Berwickshire, Cairngorms, Ardross, Kinlochard, Locheilnet, Loch Tay, Lunan, Mount Blair, Amulree, Marykirk and Trossachs.

In order for CBS to allocate public funding to a project, State Aid approval is required through a decision granted by the European Commission. Following a successful display of public support for the project and the approval of a new State Aid approval framework, the National Broadband Scheme, CBS are now seeking to confirm the intervention area and invite suppliers to respond to the State Aid public consultation by Wednesday 9th November 2016.
