Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2013

14 May 2013

Issued by Skills Development Scotland

Employers all over Scotland will be encouraged to employ more Modern Apprentices as the second Scottish Apprenticeship Week gets underway on Monday 20 May.

Skills Development Scotland wants to work with bosses to recruit 25,000 new Modern Apprentices – matching the 25,000 training last year across more than 80 different occupations.

It is hoped employers will see the benefits to their businesses while giving people the opportunity to ‘earn while they learn’.

Companies, colleges, local authorities and sector skills councils have organised events to highlight benefits to businesses and to individuals.

John McClelland, Chair of Skills Development Scotland, said: "It has never been more important for businesses across Scotland to grow and develop a skilled workforce in a competitive and cohesive way.”
