A technology business with a number of high profile contracts with multinational corporations is opening in Inverness, initially creating 51 new jobs in the area.
AVC Group PLC, established 19 years ago in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, where their head office is still located, is opening a new Contact Centre at Cradlehall Business Park and a warehouse and trade counter on Harbour Road. A recruitment open day is being held this Saturday (24 July) at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel, Church Street, Inverness. A number of field engineers have already been recruited.
AVC's main activities are in the service and installation of information technology equipment on behalf of clients, predominantly in the retail and financial sectors. Products include point-of-sale chip and pin devices, retail till systems, receivers for both satellite television and broadband as well as computer systems such as servers and desktops.
As well as providing a bench and field repair service, it operates a contact centre supporting AVC Group Engineers and customers across Europe, especially Poland and Spain. It has regional operational centres across the UK and mainland Europe.
Gary Gordon, Commercial Director for the AVC Group, said: "We are delighted to be expanding our operations into Inverness and the Highlands. The skills and expertise of the local workforce are a key selling point for the area and as well as recruiting our own staff, will be looking to work with as many local suppliers and engineers as possible. In addition, we are hoping that we can take full advantage of renewable energy technology at each of our sites."
AVC has worked closely with Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and Scottish Development International (SDI), with the business being awarded £650,000 through Regional Selective Assistance in January this year to open its Inverness operations.
Vicky Grant, Development Manager for HIE's Inner Moray Firth Team, said: "AVC are a welcome addition to the area and their commitment to Inverness and their clients across the Highlands and Islands has been clear from the outset. This will not only create jobs in the Inverness area but AVC aims to works with local suppliers, especially in more remote and rural areas. We look forward to the opening of both the contact centre and the site in Harbour Road and will continue to work closely with the company to help them realise their ambitions."
