New phase for Moray Art Centre

07 October 2014

The trustees of Moray Art Centre (MAC) are delighted to announce that the centre is entering a new phase and with support from Highlands and Islands Enterprise, the team is actively looking for a new Commercial Manager to take the helm.

This exciting development is a welcome move forward for MAC to a new period of growth.

“We have a lot of new Board members who joined the organisation in late 2013 and since then we have been working closely with Highlands and Islands Enterprise on formulating a robust business plan that will move the centre forward,” said Bill Austin, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

He continued: “We are incredibly grateful to Highlands and Islands Enterprise for their investment in MAC and for their confidence in the trustees and in the organisation as a whole.”

Fiona Robb, Head of Strengthening Communities at HIE’s Moray Area Team commented: “Moray Art Centre is a unique cultural asset for the area and we are delighted to be able to offer our support.  Community led cultural activities are vital in enhancing local participation and increasing the attractiveness of our region. We are looking forward to working with the new Commercial Manager to build on the good work already underway at MAC.”

In recent months, MAC has hosted some stunning exhibitions from artists across Scotland with most of the art on display available for purchase.  Another great attraction has been the regular ‘Artist in Residence’ sessions, where visitors to the centre can watch and speak to an artist in action.  The centre still operates a great selection of classes and the retail area is also expanding with a wide variety of arts and crafts to tempt everyone.

“The team at MAC is committed to ensuring that we have something for everyone,” said Bill.  “It was a great pleasure recently to support the inaugural Findhorn Bay Arts Festival and we would like to thank all those local people and organisations who have helped us through the last few years.  We look forward to working closely with our local arts partners in the future.”
