The Natural Products Scotland Conference 2013 took place on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 September at the Scottish Association of Marine Science and European Marine Science Park. The conference featured presentations from global leaders across the sector and provided an excellent opportunity to stimulate innovation and interaction across the growing community.
The Highlands and Islands of Scotland’s unique marine environment and maritime climate supports a rich source of natural products and active compounds. Growth in the global market is predicted to rise to £132bn for functional food and drink and £176bn for cosmetics by 2017. The region's natural assets combined with a growing level of expertise, innovation and research in this field provides a significant commercial and business opportunity.
