A major event for IT professionals and technology businesses in the North of Scotland is taking place next week in Forres. "Capitalising on the Cloud: Applying new practices to deliver business", will look at the opportunities enabled by the roll out of super fast broadband and advances in computing.
The free-to-attend event is being held at Horizon Scotland, The Enterprise Park, Forres, on Tuesday 8 November, with registration beginning at 11.30am.
Sponsored by the ICT Knowledge Transfer Network, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Scottish Enterprise, the event will bring together key ICT businesses and experts for a series of presentations and networking opportunities.
Knowledge Transfer Networks connect people, businesses, academic institutions and public agencies across the UK. This helps them to share expertise, funding opportunities and collaborate on ideas. The networks are free to join and are funded by the Technology Strategy Board.
There are currently 15 networks across the UK, spanning a range of subjects including Financial Services, Healthcare and Medicines, Creative Industries and Energy Generation and Supply.
Theresa Swayne of Highlands and Islands Enterprise, said: "Some of the biggest challenges facing any company in the ICT and technology industry is the lack of access to funding, new knowledge and networking opportunities.
"This event will assist local businesses and experts to access the latest support and information, helping them to make the most of the opportunities which are arising, not least with the roll out of superfast broadband.
"It is also an excellent opportunity for businesses to find out the benefits of lowering their carbon footprint with the use of ICT, leading to financial savings. Attending will give local businesses and individuals the opportunity to see first hand the benefits being part of a Knowledge Transfer Network can bring."
