Highlands and Islands food and drink on display in London

Fourteen food and drink businesses from the Highlands and Islands are among those displaying their products at the Speciality and Fine Food Fair in London 4-6 September.

Taking place at the Olympia Exhibition Centre, London, during Scottish Food and Drink Fortnight, the trade show for local, regional and artisan food and drink producers will see over 850 exhibitors showing their latest offerings to the many buyers among the 11,500 visitors to the Fair.

As part of the Access to Markets programme, the event is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE).

Exhibitors from the region will be displaying their products at the Scotland Food and Drink Pavilion. These include cheese companies, fish producers, bakeries and breweries all looking to attract new buyers.

Elaine Jamieson, head of food and drink at HIE, said: “The Speciality and Fine Food fair offers ambitious businesses a very real opportunity to get into new markets and win more orders. It is fantastic to see the Highlands and Islands represented at events such as this in London, and others right across the world, by such high quality businesses.

“HIE is delighted to be working with our industry partners, Scotland Food and Drink to make sure businesses right across our region get the most from this event.”

One of the companies attending the event is Stag Bakeries. Owner, Charlie, Macdonald, said: “The Speciality and Fine Food Fair in London is a key event for Stag Bakeries and is the ideal place to launch new products. The show enables us to meet with existing customers and to promote our brand to prospective buyers, whether they are from the UK or overseas. We are confident that the show will provide us with lots of sales leads which will help to continue to grow the Stag brand.”

Scotland Food & Drink’s Access to Markets Manager, Stephanie Pritchard commented: “We are delighted to host the Scotland, Land of Food and Drink pavilion at Speciality during Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight and we attend for the eighth year running with a record number of 39 exhibitors, including some of our smaller producers in a dedicated space.

“Speciality & Fine Food Fair is a significant event in the calendar for companies wishing to target key trade buyers from fine food retail, catering and wholesaler sectors, while London is an important market for Scottish products.
