Highland businesses shortlisted for VIBES awards

VIBES recognises the commitment, actions and achievements of Scottish companies in reducing their impact on the environment. HIE is one of the partner sponsors of the prestigious event.

Businesses shortlisted from the HIE area are: Hambleside Danelaw (Inverness); Macdonald Aviemore (Aviemore); Rio Tinto Alcan (Fort William); Wastewater Wizard (Fortrose); Biomatrix Water (Forres); Gordon & MacPhail (Elgin); The Dailuaine Distillery (Aberlour); and Diageo and Clearfleau (joint entry, Moray).

Winners at this year’s awards will be announced at a special ceremony on Tuesday 26 November at The Hub in Edinburgh.

There are a total of ten awards this year, including two new categories: the Hydro Nation Award and the Circular Economy Award. Winners of the 2013 awards will be selected from the following categories:

  • Management Award: large company category (more than 250 employees)
  • Management Award: SME (up to 250 employees)
  • Energy Award
  • Waste and Resources Award
  • Transport Award
  • Environmental and Clean Technology Award
  • Changing Behaviour Award
  • Hydro Nation Award
  • Circular Economy Award
  • Best Micro Business Award

The Scottish Government is sponsoring the Energy Award and the Hydro Nation Award. ScottishPower has returned to sponsor the Environmental and Clean Technology Award this year. In addition, Energy Saving Trust is sponsoring the VIBES Transport Award and this year’s Waste and Resources Award is sponsored by Enviroco.

VIBES is a partnership between Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Scottish Government, Scottish Water, Scottish Enterprise, Highland and Islands Enterprise, Zero Waste Scotland, Energy Saving Trust and Bright Green Business.
