Two Highland bands have been selected to perform at Summerfest, the highest attended music festival in the United States. Summerfest 2012 takes place in Milwaukee from 27 June to 8 July 2012. Both Abagail Grey and Capitals will be performing on the Rock Stage on 30 June.
Abagail Grey are a five-piece Highland band fronted by Inverness musician Claire Campbell whose song writing has been described by The Scotsman as "daringly simple, serene, elegant and beautifully crafted". Add to this piano, two harps, trumpet, violin, acoustic guitar, bass guitar and drums, and you have what Radio One recently described as, simply, "a great band".
Capitals are an electronic band featuring Angus Carbarns (ex. "The Cinematics" & TVT Records and originally from Dingwall) and Keir MacCulloch (ex. "Araya" & Benbecula Records) who also hails from the Highlands. Their successes, both past and present, make Capitals one of the most promising, most thought-provoking and uniquely talented acts emerging from the UK scene today. The pair recently relocated to Edinburgh which is where Capitals was born.
