The organisers of the Highlands & Islands Food & Drink Awards (HIFDA) have announced that this year’s entry deadline for the prestigious awards has been extended until Friday, 9th May.
Supported by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), the Awards are the region’s longest-running food and drinks awards, celebrating excellence and achievement in the industry and recognising industry players at the top of their game.
Quintin Stevens of the HIFDA Committee said: “We know how busy it can be at this time of year, and we’re keen to encourage as many as businesses as possible to enter the Awards. Therefore, we’ve extended the entry deadline by just over two weeks, so we hope this gives a lifeline to those businesses who have struggled to find time to complete and send in an entry form.”
The Awards recognise and reward businesses in the industry which are displaying best practice, achieving exceptional standards and pushing boundaries in a key growth industry sector. Winners and shortlisted finalists experience the opportunity to benefit from heightened reputation and publicity surrounding the high-profile event.
The 12 award categories include New Business, Healthier Food & Drink, Best Marketing Initiative, Food & Drink Business Growth, Young Shining Star, Export and Environment.
In addition to HIE and title sponsor Gordon & MacPhail, sponsors this year include Bank of Scotland, Cairngorms National Park Authority, Ecosse Professional Services Ltd, JBT Distribution & Parcelinq, Johnston Carmichael, Norbert Dentressangle, North Highland Initiative, Scotland Food & Drink, TIO Ltd, Think Local, University of Aberdeen Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health. The media sponsor is Scottish Provincial Press.
The shortlisted finalists will be announced in late June, and full details of the Awards Dinner & Ceremony on Friday, 24th October at the Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness will be announced in due course.
The closing date for entries is 5pm on Friday, 9th May. Further information on all the award categories and how to enter can be found at www.hifoodanddrinkawards.com.
Entry is free and easy and businesses can enter as many relevant categories as they wish. To help with the entry process, the Awards organisers have pulled together their Top Ten Entry Tips to help make the process less daunting and as straightforward as possible.
