The Enterprise Park Forres is to provide spaces for thousands of cars expected next week as visitors flock to Forres for the annual Piping at Forres event.
Enterprise Park developer, Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), will open up existing car parks and adjacent fields to ease traffic pressure on the town. A shuttle bus will transport people to and from their vehicles throughout the day.
Fiona Robb, HIE’s head of strengthening communities in Moray, said: “Piping at Forres is a major visitor attraction for the town and for Moray and we are keen to provide what support we can. Last year upwards of four thousand people accessed the event by parking at the Enterprise Park and making use of the park and ride shuttle service. This helped keep a lot of vehicle traffic out the town while making it simple for people to enjoy the event. We will provide the same service again this year.
“Using the Enterprise Park in this way is also useful in giving many visitors a glimpse of the extent of the modern business facilities available in Moray. The Park is about 100 acres. More than 600 people are employed here , working for companies in the business process outsourcing, technology, electronics, life sciences and oil and gas sectors, but because it is largely hidden from the main road many people are unaware of the extent of commercial facilities and activities here.”
