A special Doors Open Day is to take place at Inverness Campus on Saturday 3 September.
The public are invited to come along from 10am to 4pm for a special free guided tour of the world-class business, research and education location.
Tours will also be available inside An Lòchran which is a multiple occupancy building co-locating Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) with key research and education departments from the University of the Highlands and Islands, and Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC).
The building is also home to #hellodigital - a digital demonstration centre as well as teaching, research and laboratory facilities and an innovative science academy.
The development of Inverness Campus is led by HIE to support the further expansion of some of the region’s key sectors with a particular focus on life sciences. The site has been specifically designed to encourage collaboration between business, research and academia, both within the campus and with neighbouring organisations such as LifeScan Scotland, Raigmore Hospital and the Centre for Health Science.
Doors Open Day is co-ordinated nationally by the Scottish Civic Trust. It runs throughout Scotland every September as part of European Heritage Days, and aims to give people the chance to see inside buildings which are not normally open to the public. The Highland Doors Open Days programme is co-ordinated by the Inverness City Heritage Trust.
Karen Thomson, senior development manager for Inverness Campus, said: “Inverness Campus is one of Scotland’s most ambitious projects and we look forward to showing it to the public during Doors Open Day. It will be an enjoyable free day out and an opportunity for people to find out more about the benefits of Inverness Campus for businesses, research and education, and the wider community.”
Inverness Campus is a stunning 215 acre landscaped site which is home to business, researchers and academia and a high quality environment. It already features Inverness College UHI, the life sciences building - Aurora House, student residences and An Lòchran. Thirty acres of parkland around picturesque lochans are open as community parkland.
Visitors wishing to take a tour of Inverness Campus are reminded that this site is out of doors and therefore appropriate footwear and clothing should be worn for the weather.
Inverness College UHI is also taking part in Doors Open Day on Saturday 3 September.
