Food and drink businesses across the Highlands and Islands and within the Cairngorms National Park area have just three weeks left from today (Wednesday, 15th May) to enter for the region’s largest and most prestigious food and drink industry awards.
As the Wednesday, 5th June deadline approaches for entries for this year’s Highlands & Islands Food & Drink Awards, sponsored by Gordon & MacPhail, organisers are calling on the area’s food and drink businesses to make sure they don’t miss the closing date and the opportunity to benefit from the extensive publicity surrounding the high-profile event.
The Highlands & Islands Food & Drink Awards, now in its ninth year and sporting a fresh new logo and website, recognise and reward the businesses which are displaying best practice, achieving exceptional standards and pushing boundaries in a key growth industry sector.
Quintin Stevens of the Awards’ organisers Highlands & Islands Food & Drink Forum said they were keen to see operators of all types and sizes in the Highlands and Islands enter a range of categories, including the New Business Award, Healthier Food & Drink Award, New Product Award, Best Drink Award, Development of Export Markets and Best Eatery.
“We have so much to be proud of in the Highlands and Islands, but we need producers and businesses to step forward and allow us to promote their successes to the wider food and drink industry. We want to build on their innovation and creativity and help raise the profile of the hard-working individuals whose passion and commitment drives our industry.”
New for 2013 is the Entrepreneur of the Year Award sponsored by Johnston Carmichael which recognises outstanding achievement by an individual in the food and drink industry in the Highlands and Islands.
The winner of the Best Marketing Initiative Award, sponsored by Think Local, will have impressed the judges by demonstrating a clear marketing objective that has been put into practice and delivered with tangible results showing creativity, innovation and imagination.
The environment has a huge impact on the quality of Highlands and Islands food and drink, and the Environment Award, sponsored by Tio Ltd, recognises good environmental practice with food and drink based products, services, processes or ways of doing business that have been developed to protect or enhance the environment. The product, service or business development process will also be assessed for staff training, ongoing potential and overall identity in relation to environmental issues.
Supported by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), the Awards are the region’s most prestigious food and drinks awards, celebrating excellence and achievement in the industry and recognising industry players at the top of their game.
