The Interface Excellence Awards have been established this year to acknowledge the significant contribution that knowledge exchange is making to Scotland's economy.
Over £23 million (net GVA) is added to the Scottish economy every year through successful business and academic partnerships brokered through Interface, and the Awards aim to recognise and celebrate the progress made through commercial and academic partnerships.
Dr Siobhán Jordan, Director of Interface, said: "Scotland is setting the benchmark for knowledge transfer. Our academic and research institutions are among the best in the world and, when matched with businesses, the impact these partnerships have on our reputation and prosperity is substantial.
"These awards recognise the best of Interface partnerships, and we're confident that the entries will be of the highest calibre."
Three categories are now open for entry, with a deadline of Friday 19 October 2012:
· Interface innovation of the year award
· Interface sustained partnership award
· Interface outstanding contribution to knowledge exchange award
A judging panel comprising experts from Scottish business and academia will judge all entries and a shortlist will be announced in November 2012. The Interface Excellence Awards presentation will take place in Edinburgh on Wednesday 5 December 2012.
Interface works by assessing the needs of a company seeking potential collaborators to problem-solve or develop new products, processes or service. The team identify relevant academic partners and help to match the professional expertise to support the company in moving the business idea forward.
