People in Shetland who work in, or would like to work in, the creative industries sector will have the opportunity to attend a free networking event on Saturday 19 March.
The Shetland Creative Industries Forum is an event organised in partnership by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), Shetland Arts Development Agency (SADA), the University of the Highlands and Islands and Shetland Islands Council.
Held in the Mareel auditorium in Lerwick between 11:00 and 14:00, it will include presentations from Professor Robin MacPherson, Chair of Creative Industries for the University of the Highlands and Islands based at Shetland College and Clive Gillman, Director of Creative Industries at Creative Scotland.
Attendees will also hear from Graeme Howell, general manager for Shetland Arts Development Agency, and Lorraine Thomson of Interface who will be accompanied by Paulette Brough of Rarebird Design in Stornoway.
Iain Hamilton, HIE’s head of creative industries, and senior executive Jeni Oliver, will be attending along with some of HIE’s specialist creative industries sector support contractors.
Rachel Hunter, HIE area manager in Shetland, will facilitate the presentation session. She said: “If Shetland is to develop a diverse and innovative business base, supporting the development of the creative industries sector is key. It is a vibrant sector with huge potential. This event is part of the wider process of engaging with businesses and practitioners in order to better understand their needs and support the sector’s future development. I very much hope as many people as possible will take up the opportunity to come along and I’m very confident those who do will get a lot from it.”
Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP to Rachael Hume by Monday 14th March (email@example.com or 01595 744907)
