Community broadband project in Fife moves forward with issue of State Aid public consultation

20 June 2016

The latest State Aid public consultation issued by Community Broadband Scotland (CBS) will enable Community Initiative North East Fife (CoINEF) to progress with their community broadband project. CoINEF are currently looking to secure funding to bring better connectivity to their community.

CoINEF was established to address poor connectivity in the areas of North-East Fife. The group are aiming to deliver broadband speeds of 30Mbps or more to 100% of premises within the project area.

In order for CBS to allocate public funding to a project, State Aid approval is required through a decision granted by the European Commission. Following a successful display of public support for the project and the approval of a new State Aid approval framework, the National Broadband Scheme, CBS are now seeking to confirm the intervention area and invite suppliers to respond to the State Aid public consultation by Friday 22nd July.
