#hellodigital is pleased to announce ‘Digital Making Showcase Week’. This special week will feature daily seminars with guest speakers and hands-on demonstrations from MAKLab.
On Thursday 30th June, the daily seminar is:
Disruptive Devices: Empowered users and maker culture
If you have an interest in developing and producing your own digital devices to use, then today’s speakers will be here to provide advice on how you can make this possible. The session will cover everything from 3D Printing to Open Source computing.
With increasingly easy access to rapid prototyping and production facilities, we are experiencing a user led revolution against ‘off-the-shelf’ solutions, instead opting to learn the skills and processes needed to develop and produce devices that not only improve their life, but also empower them.
This session will cover the applications of 3D Printing and Open Source computing in the development of prosthesis, sensors, assistive devices and imaginative solutions to user faced challenges. Our guest speakers will explore new materials, new processes, the accessibility of equipment and resources alongside the practical demonstration of some innovative devices by the MAKLab team.
