The International Trade team through the Smart Exporter Programme are running a series of pilot webinars throughout February and March aimed to provide and overview on a range of technical aspects of exporting.
Smart Exporter is an international trade skills programme delivered by Highlands and Islands Enterprise in partnership with Scottish Development International (SDI) and supported by the European Regional Development Fund.
Our pilot webinars are targeted at Highlands and Islands companies who are thinking about or are new to exporting/international trade.
Exporting can be challenging, particularly regarding getting the right finance in place for your business to export in the first place.
UK Export Finance (UKEF) is a government department and the UK’s export credit agency, with the ability to support both UK exporters and overseas buyers of UK goods and services.
We make exports happen that would not otherwise be possible by bridging the gap between what businesses need to allow them to export, and what commercial insurers and banks are able to provide. Often we collaborate with banks to enhance what they can provide.
Our flexible range of services includes protecting exporters against risk, with insurance against non-payment by overseas buyers and against contract bonds being called by buyers unfairly; facilitating finance for exporters with guarantees to banks to help them provide working capital loans and contract bonds for their exporter customers; and backing or providing loans to overseas buyers, to finance purchases from UK exporters.
Together with Highlands and Islands Enterprise we help UK businesses of any size realise their ambitions for international expansion, working alongside them to help them access the export finance they need to grow.
This webinar will be delivered by Carol Harvey, Export Finance Advisor from UK Export Finance the UK’s Export Credit Agency (Export Credit Guarantee Department. Carol has over 30 years’ experience in the Credit & Political Risk Insurance Market having begun her career with Export Credit Guarantee Department then moving into the Private Sector where she headed up the Trade Credit Practice of a Global Insurance Broker & Risk Consultancy business covering both Scotland and N.
