Entrepreneurial Scotland, in partnership with HIE, is hosting An Evening With…Paul Grant, Chairman of Mackays Ltd and Chair of Scotland’s Diary Growth Board.   Paul began his career in the food manufacturing business in 1967 in United Biscuits having been offered a Management Trainee position and gained a breadth of experience in different roles.  He purchased Mackays from United Biscuits in 1995 and has grown the firm from being a small jam and marmalade factory with 18 employees to being a global brand with an annual turnover of £18.5 million, 150 employees and exports sales in over 80 countries across the globe.

Paul was awarded the Scotsman Entrepreneur of the Year in 2001 and received his MBE in 2003.   The company has won many awards including the International Business Award, the Queen’s Award for Enterprise and Manufacturing Business of the Year.    Today Paul is Chairman of Mackays Ltd and his son, Martin, took over as Managing Director in 2011.  Mackays continues to grow at an impressive rate in the UK and overseas.

The event will also launch Entrepreneurial Scotland’s collaboration with HIE in the Highlands and Islands.  Entrepreneurial Scotland is extending its presence into the region to enable more businesses to access its services and to facilitate collaboration with entrepreneurs in other parts of the country.   The collaboration will also mean that more events for entrepreneurs are hosted in the Highlands and Islands to share best practice and stimulate more networking opportunities.

HIE Chief Executive, Charlotte Wright, will introduce the event by setting out the content for the HIE regions and Freda Newton, MC of the very successful Jacobite Cruises, will share her thoughts on achieving success in the HIE region.
